Additional Information

The City of Phoenix is seeking a qualified contractor to provide construction services for the project listed below. The City, as part of a continuing transportation management program, is proposing to expand the communication fiber backbone system. The project includes expanding the current communication fiber backbone network equipment to allow for remote monitoring, control and traffic signal optimization. It is the desire of the City to extend approximately 12.5 miles of fiber optic infrastructure to the western limits of the City of Phoenix and through a portion of the City of Glendale. The project will install a majority of new conduit infrastructure, but the project will utilize existing conduit infrastructure to the extent possible. New conduit will be installed to fill in gaps along the existing conduit path and where continuity does not exist (contractor to conduit proof prior to fiber installation). The project will also connect to existing traffic signals along the route. The work includes the installation of fiber and pull box infrastructure, a Layer 3 network switch at two locations, and connection to City of Phoenix and neighboring agency existing fiber communications cable. The “Indian School Fiber Transportation Enhancement Project” is approximately 12.5 miles long and is within City of Phoenix, City of Glendale, and ADOT right-of-ways.
